We focus on learning how to pose in Props and Beanbag poses while keeping the little ones safe.
This hands-on experience includes working with a Newborn Model, providing a practical learning opportunity.
You'll be actively using your camera to capture photos, this hands-on method goes beyond just understanding the fundamentals and grasp different angles and compositions. By incorporating real-time photography, you'll refine your skills and build confidence in producing newborn portraits that are both attractive and secure.

One on One Mentoring - Full Day $1500
One on one Mentoring takes place at my Home Studio in Clyde from 9am - 4.30pm.
Mentoring takes place on a weekday not a weekend
Newborn Baby Model will be arranged so the images that you take on the day can be used for your portfolio. So yes, you will be taking photos too. So make sure you bring your camera.

You will also receive a Digital Workbook to take home to help you with what was covered on the day and to help you with your journey
You will also receive a Certificate of Completion
You will need a basic understanding of Photoshop and will need a DSLR camera and preferably a 35mm or 24-70mm. You can use a 50mm lens but it is harder to work with in Newborn Photography. You need to have a basic understanding of aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings, and be comfortable shooting in manual mode.
PLEASE NOTE: I do not teach the fundamentals of using Photoshop during mentoring sessions. While I will demonstrate how I edit my images in Photoshop, mastering this software is a skill that requires time and practice beyond what can be covered in a Mentoring Day. To fully benefit from the editing portion of the workshop, it’s essential to have a solid understanding of Photoshop beforehand.
That said, the primary focus of my mentoring sessions is on in-studio techniques -posing, angles, and creating stunning setups. These hands-on aspects will form the core of your learning experience, helping you elevate your newborn photography skills to the next level. There are many excellent online and in-person Photoshop courses that focus solely on mastering the software.

Session and Booking Information
We encourage customers to book early. Ensure that you secure your session well in advance as our schedule tends to fill up one to two months in advance for Maternity, Baby and Cake Smash Sessions.
For Newborn Session's it is recommended book during your pregnancy to secure a guaranteed slot with Alana. Waiting until after the baby arrives may pose challenges in scheduling or obtaining a booking. It's recommended to have the newborn photography session before the baby turns 3 weeks old for the best results.
